MOVING OUT INSTRUCTIONS
KAPPA DELTA
HOUSE CLOSES AT 4 PM ON Fri., May 16 2008.
There
are no exceptions and fines will be levied for failure to be out by 4pm.
Each resident must sign up for a check-out appointment with the house director (in advance) for
thorough inspection once the room is ready to be vacated. At that time, the house director will bring the check-in sheets for
all residents in the room and note any damage. Failure to schedule a check-out appointment
prior to leaving will result in the forfeit of the full security deposit. You
will not get your deposit back if you do not check out! Deposits will be
credited to your Omega Account unless you leave a self addressed AND stamped envelope to receive a check.
MOST IMPORTANT
Your
room should be ready for someone else to move in. Closets cleaned with no trash,
room vacuumed, all personal belongings removed from the house, garbage emptied, trash cans clean, furniture dusted. The only thing you do not have to do is shampoo the carpet. This
will be done over the summer and a small amount will be deducted from your deposit to cover this. Damage to a room or its furniture beyond ordinary wear and tear will be charged to the Student(s) occupying the room.
Charges will be assessed for damages resulting from improper attachment of items to walls and door at a minimum rate of $5 per hole or abrasion. Damage to rooms or property used in common areas of the premises
will be charged to all such Students equally.
HOLES IN THE
WALL
All
holes need to be filled with Spackle and wiped down with a lightly dampened sponge.
No messy walls with goop. We recommend that you arrange to have the maintenance
personnel fill your nail holes so it is done properly. You will have to pay a fee of $ 5.00 per bed. You can sign up for this service with the house director and pay her.
HALLS –
BATHROOMS
You
will need to remove all your belongings (including your trash) from the bathroom and halls.
Do NOT leave shampoo, soap, or anything in the showers or on the counter tops.
Remember how it looked when you moved in. That is the way you need to
leave it. Damage to property used in common areas of the premises will be charged to
all such Students equally.
GOODWILL
There
will be boxes in the rec room for you to place any clothing you do not want, and Goodwill will come to collect.
MOVING BOXES
The
cook will leave boxes in the rec room for you to use to move out. There will
NOT be enough for everyone. Please do not use the house garbage bags to move.
MAIL
The
post office WILL NOT forward your mail. You will have to contact all companies that bill you and all magazines to change your
address. Anyone who has had ‘mail duty’ will testify to the amount
of mail that comes here for KD’s who moved years ago. It is your responsibility
to take care of your mail. The house director will be available for you to pick up mail on the first Friday of every month
between 4 & 5 pm.
KEYS
Turn in your keys and HAVE A FUN SUMMER!
